Post Need for Speed: Most Wanted (Retail and Black Editions)
To run Need for Speed: Most Wanted (Retail and Black Editions) in the resolution you want, simply:

1. Download and install the official NFSMW 1.3 patch (12.1MB, not required but good to have).

2. Download this Resolution Fixer (11kb). Kudos to ToCA Edit!

3. Unzip the contents to your NFSMW root folder and run it.

4. Enter the resolution you want, select the version you have installed, and then click Launch. That's all!

It has worked flawless for me as shown below (I personally own the Black Edition v1.3).

I guess it depends on the NO-CD patch. The one I use works fine with the Resolution fixer.

I have only tried the fixer with 856x480, 1776x1000 and 1920x1080. Those all worked for me. Which res are you trying to do?

Still the same ole thing ..
"This program has encountered a problem .. "
Error !

Buddy at work told me maybe if I unistall/ re install this might work.
Plus installing the 1.3 patch
Ok .. aah No
This time no error messages.
Screen goes black ,like it would at start up then resizes the black screen to top left corner for 2 seconds and I'm back to desktop.

So it works on my hacked 1.3 just fine. Like was stated perviously, some hacks are better than others. I have the hack that come with 2 .exe's. 1 for usa 1 for japan. works great. But about this custom res. do I have to start the game with the res. tool everytime to enjoy said res. Is there anyway to make the new res permanent?

You have to start the Resolution Fixer every single time. Just launch it instead of the game itself. I have my shortcut for NFS pointing to the Res Fixer.

Post Ye Ole ResFix
I understand there maybe a couple version of a No CD, I'm pretty sure
I am using same one as most people.
I also noted the ResFix program is design to launch the game and never
started up game using the games exe during this test.I start up the game using the Resfix short cut on my desktop.
Its wierd it doesn't work for me and you 2 have had success.
Maybe its the Monitor that doesn't like NO CD , its has HDCP.
I feel kind of retarted for even makng that statement but hey what the hell i grasping I guess.
(It because I been reading alittle about the lastest in Copyright Protection thats going on with Movie Maker , Microsoft ,Vista and its effect on People with older model HDTVs , monitors ,Vid Cards )

Just wanted to post up and say thank you for the fix on this. I was doing a little nostalgia gaming, and loaded this, and to my surprise it didn't even have 1680x1050 as an available resolution. Your steps worked, and I'm enjoying the heck out of it.

Now, to see if it works with 5040x1050 EyeFinity...

I have been a fan of Need for Speed: Most Wanted. I enjoyed playing this game and an interesting story line made the playing more enjoyable. I never knew that we could play the game in 1680x1050 resolution. I would love to give it a try and see if it works for me. It would be fun playing with such high resolution.
