11/9/07 - All-New Home Theater Setup and Gaming PC
For the past two months I've been busy conducting a complete overhaul of my home theater and HTPC system. And the focal point of the upgrade was replacing the 64" Pioneer Rear-Projection TV with a new Sharp LCD flat screen. You can read all about it and see photos
here. That means, widescreen res info, screencaps and video clips of titles like
BIOSHOCK,
UNREAL TOURNAMENT 3, and
CRYSIS will soon be posted. We are also open for requests. Check back soon for the new titles.

5/24/07 - BIG NEWS!!!
Yes, I just realized that it's been over a year since I last posted an update. But as you can see from the two previous entries, I have begun to post new information as I test and approve it.
My job has been keeping me crazy busy for the past year (I've even recently traveled to Sydney and Melbourne, Australia). Anyway, I just wanted to announce today that since I can now afford the bandwidth and the fact that much of my allotted bandwidth is going to waste every month, I have decided to make the
Screenshots and Video Clips section free and open to the public!
That's right, no more donations are required, simply click
here and voila, you have access.
I plan on recording and posting more screenshots and video clips over the next few weeks as I have been setting aside precious time to play, test, and record various PC titles.
If you have one in particular that you'd like me to install, capture and post, just send me a Private Message on this forum. Thank you to all who donated. And without any further adue...

Happy New Year! OK, now that THAT'S over with, we've moved the Widescreen Gaming List over to this forum, as you can see. We hope it makes it easier to find and discuss the information on the title(s) you are looking for.

So get started by either
reading about what this whole Widescreen Gaming business is all about, or just go straight to the
Game Index where we have listed all the titles tested so far.
And oh, don't forget that we have a

Still thinking about
Battlefield 2? Perhaps the 24
screenshots taken at a glorious 1680x1050 resolution might help you decide. Thanks to Thomas Minnick for the submissions.

I finally replaced my aging ATI Radeon 9700 Pro with a new
ATI Radeon X800XL card from Circuit City (~$300). And wow, what a difference in frame rates! This card really packs a punch for the price. I highly recommend it.
In other news, I've added clips of
Battlefield 2,
Far Cry, and
Trackmania Sunrise (my new fave racing game) to the
video clips and screenshots page. I will be adding more clips soon using the new Radeon card.
If you are visiting this page, chances are that you already have a high-end graphics card and a fast internet connection. If that's the case, check out the free version of
Google Earth! It combines satellite imagery with topography and map information thereby providing you with an uncanny ability to fly the just about any location on the planet. And be sure to try the "Directions" function which will visually show you what the drive looks like from your departure point to your destination.
And lastly, although this page focuses on PC gaming, I've been keeping my eye on the Playstation 3 console -- especially after some friends showed me what it can do. I strongly recommend that you check out the
90MB trailer for
KILLZONE PS3. The amazing visuals and realism will knock your socks off!
That's it for now. Until next time... -- TigerDave
