You can hack this game to support any custom widescreen resolution you want, but the image will be stretched (players will appear short and wide).

1. Download, unzip and run WinHex (website).

2. Open the file "A.profiles" typically located in the folder "My Documents\FIFA 07\A. Profiles",

3. Click File > Search and type "widescreen" (without the quotes). You should be able to locate the word in the hex code. Change the value from "0" to "1" as shown here:



4. Save the file.

5. Create a new text file called "locale.ini" and save in the root folder of FIFA 2007 (typically C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA 07).

6. Edit the file to contain the following lines:

WINDOWED = 0
RESOLUTION = 1776x1000x32

Of course end your own custom resolution. Make sure the last number is "32" as shown above (it means "32-bit color" as the games does not support other color modes).

7. Save the file and launch the game. The game's menus will still be 4x3 aspect ratio, but the game play itself shouldn't be.

I tested this process myself and confirmed it does work, if you are aware that the image will be stretched horizontally to fit your widescreen display.
